West Coast Hip Hop Artist YG is reaching beyond just offering his fans music. YG wants to make his 4 Hunnid Clothing line into more than a collection of merchandise for profit. with an LA culture inspired look 4 Hunnid collections, the emcee is molding into a full-fledged streetwear fashion maven. According to WWD, 4 Hunnid will expand from hoodies and t-shirts to also carry trousers, jackets, hats and other accessories. The brand has now displayed its Spring/Summer 2017 line featuring caps ($35), sweatshirts ($65), hoodies ($72), t-shirts ($35), and long sleeve tees ($50).
“People always thought of 4 Hunnid as merch, so we want to present it in a different way for people to perceive it differently,” says Creative Director Gavin “Mizzle” Mathieu. “We really want to create a fashion brand.” 4 Hunnid Clothing launched in February of 2016 as just a test order with Zumiez. According to the action sports specialty clothing store, the collection was the fastest selling test order in their company history. YG’s 4 Hunnid Clothing is now available in over 400 Zumiez locations nationwide.
They will present that culture, and the collection, this July during New York Fashion Week: Men’s. For now, Mathíeu said the focus is on direct-to-consumer and their Zumiez partnership, but the goal is to expand the line to other retailers.
