Suge Knight has been indicted for allegedly threatening to injure Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray.
The Death Row Records founder has been indicted on felony criminal threats by the Los Angeles County Grand Jury over a threat he allegedly made to Gray in August 2014, shortly after Gray began shooting the film.
Editors at TMZ.com have obtained a copy of the indictment, dated 7 February which reads,”On or about August 8, 2014, Suge …threatened to commit a crime which would result in death and great bodily injury to Felix Gary Gray.”
He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge on Thursday.
Suge Knight was reportedly unhappy with his portrayal in Gray’s 2015 film, which told the story of the rap group N.W.A.’s rise to fame and band member Dr. Dre’s founding of Death Row Records with Suge and fellow rapper The D.O.C.
The rap mogul has a long history of legal troubles and was arrested in January 2015 on murder charges for allegedly running over record executive Terry Carter in a parking lot near the set of Straight out of Compton. Filmmaker Cle Sloan was also injured in the incident.
Witnesses have claimed the record boss followed Cle and Terry after an argument on the film set, and there is video surveillance footage of the incident.
The 52-year-old, Suge Knight, claims he acted in self-defense, and sources close to the star have told TMZ.com that he believes he has been indicted as the original murder case against him is weak.
