The 300 fame actor Gerard Butler organized a star-studded fundraising campaign to help the victims of California wildfire which had gutted many homes. Butler himself had suffered a loss of property because of Woolsey fire which had forced many residents to evacuate their homes. The actor organized the fundraiser at his girlfriend’s place on 16th of November so that whole of the Malibu community can get benefitted from the event.
The campaign that was organized in Gerard Butler’s girlfriend Morgan Brown’s home had raised around $2 million in the name of Malibu Foundation. The event was supported by many active stars namely, Jamie Foxx, Minnie Driver, Robin Thicke, Sean Penn, The Edge, Cindy Crawford, and Rande Gerber. Gerard Butler further posted a video on his Instagram in which he shared that how parents were trying to tell their young ones about the unfortunate happening. The forty-nine year old veteran actor further thanked people for their love and support.
According to one news agency, Gerard told the press that the Malibu foundation has taken the initiative in support of the families which became victim to the wildfire. At the fundraising event, legendary singer Van Morrison sang his ever hit Brown Eyed Girl which added charm to the evening. Oscar winner Jamie Foxx joined the singer by humming lyrics of the song. Furthermore, Gangster Squad actor Sean Penn praised and thanked the firefighting department for risking their lives to curb the wildfire.
Singer Robin Thicke also lost his Malibu home in the California wildfire where he lives with girlfriend April Love Geary and eight-month-old daughter named Mia. In the fundraising event, Thickie sang Stand by Me, a legendary song by Ben E. King. Around 74 people had lost their lives in the wildfire while many are still missing.
