The Oscar-winning actress, Emma Thompson was honored with Damehood in London on Wednesday.
The actress was entitled with a dame in Queen’s Birthday Honors list for her inspiring services in drama this year. She collected her award from Prince William on Wednesday. We all saw her sporting an emerald Stella McCartney trouser suit with matching top and white sneakers to the ceremony in the Buckingham Palace. Emma Thompson was accompanied by her actor husband, Greg Wise, her adopted son, Tindyebwa Agaba Wise, and their daughter Gia.
After the ceremony, the shared some fun time with the Duke of Cambridge while receiving the honor of dame. The 59-year old actress stated that while receiving the award, she asked Prince William if she can kiss him, on which he said no. While talking to the press, she said that she always loved both the brothers and she have been a long-term correspondent with Prince Charles. It is a very lovely feeling, and the Prince was looking wonderful and doing so well in his life. She also added that “If you’re first up you have to be more formal on such an occasion. On this, he said, ‘This day isn’t about me, it’s about you.’”
While talking to the press, the love actually star stated that she would be using her damehood for bringing attention to the holiday hunger issues (a term given to the children that go hungry during the school holidays). Emma Thompson is very politically outspoken, and she always speaks out loud for human rights and feminism. So, you might see some more of such things from the actress after receiving the honor of the dame.
During a late-night show, the Oscar-winning star said that she agreed to receive the honor because she really liked the badge.
