DJ Khaled and Drake have shared a new music video for their joint single “POPSTAR.” Which was directed by Director X (Julien Christian Lutz). Khaled dropped off “Popstar,” as well as “Greece,” which also features Drake, back in July. Khaled’s 12th studio album, which will be titled Khaled Khaled, is expected to drop later this year.
The clip begins with DJ Khaled taunting Drake to make a music video for the track via multiple shouty video messages. Fed up, Drake requests in a favor from Justin Bieber to star in the visual for him. The video shows Bieber living a fascinating lifestyle with shots of him waking up in his mansion and partying while he raps along to Drake’s verses. There are also a few cameos with Bieber’s wife Hailey Baldwin and Andrew Bachelor aka King Bach making appearances. Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, who Drake’s name drops on the track, is also in the video.
But the main highlight of the track comes when Justin lip-syncs the lines, “You would probably think my manager was Scooter Braun / But my manager with 20 hoes in Buddakan,” Bieber mimes. “Aye, look, Ariana, Selena my Visa / It can take as many charges as it needs to my girl.”
The lyrics make a reference to the singer’s exes, Selena and Ariana Grande. Bieber and Gomez dated on and off from between 2010 and 2018. The “Sorry” singer began dating model Hailey Baldwin later in 2018, with the pair marrying later that year. But the main twist comes at the end of the track. When it turns out to be a ‘weird dream’ of Justin. The young singer wakes up next to his wife Hailey who asks him if he is okay. Justin narrates his crazy dream to her wherein he was asked to be a part of Drake’s music video with the latter being absent from it.
