Comedian Chris Rock is generating the suspense, drama, and horror in his recent film Spiral. Which will restore the gory Saw franchise. Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have presented the first trailer. With this being the 9th installment of the franchise that features Chris Rock playing the role of Detective Ezekiel Banks.
Take a peek at trailer below.
Rock will get help from a character named Marcus, being played by Samuel L. Jackson.
“Whoever did this has another motive,” says Detective Banks. “They’re targeting cops,” as Marcus adds, “This sh*t’s gonna go sideways fast.”
At the scene of each murder, the detectives find a red spiral symbol painted nearby. Fans will recognize the mark quickly and know it is a part of Jigsaw, the iconic villain of the Saw. In the trailer, Rock’s character is chained up in a room and holding a hacksaw, reminding fans of Cary Elwes’ character in the original Saw. Fans know all too well how that turned out
Chris Rock is both the star and executive producer of this film. He announced last year that he would be reviving the franchise that debuted 16 years ago. Darren Lynn Bousman – who directed Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV – returned to the director’s chair for Spiral.
“I’ve been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004. I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place,” Rock told IndieWire.
The expectation is that this new movie will feature a new villain who is possibly a Jigsaw disciple.
