LG W7 Watch – Is It Worth Spending Your Money On?

The latest smartwatch of LG the W7 is quite popular nowadays. LG released this watch in October 2018. Well, almost all the smartwatches running on Google’s Android Operating System looks almost the same in terms of design. The W7 is no different in terms of its shape and look. It is simple looking watch with round dials, interchangeable straps and three control buttons on the side. The watch doesn’t look that good in terms of build quality and looks. The W7 looks like a cheap priced mechanical watch; however, it is not cheap at all. The price of LG W7 is approximately $450.

Features- analog movement

In spite of being a Wear on OS watch, LG has added some unique features in the latest W7 to make it stand out from the rest. One of the best things about this watch it looks like a traditional timepiece because of its moving mechanical hands. Yes LG has added analog movement to this watch which is really appealing. You can see the time on W7 without switching the touch screen on.

But in order to introduce the analog movement, LG has made many compromises. First of all, there is a hole punched right in the centre of the tiny 1.2 inches LCD to make room for the mechanical hands. Then it has removed certain necessary features from the watch like GPS, heartbeat monitor and NFC which are present in all the other popular Wear on OS watch just to make room for the moving mechanical parts.

Using the touch screen of the watch is not at all comfortable because of the analog hands and it limits the watch functionality. Then there is an outdated Snapdragon 2100 processor which doesn’t perform as good as the latest 3100 chipsets. But in spite of all these compromises, the watch still looks big and chubby. Because of its size, it looks horrible on small wrists.

Battery

LG W7

Now talking about the battery, the watch comes with a non-removable 240 mAh battery. The battery life is neither good nor bad as it runs the whole day after one full charge. But when compared to the Apple watches and Samsung Gear it’s really bad.

There is obviously some positive side of the watch too like you can easily read the time in bright light because of the analog design which is quite difficult in other smartwatches. The USB C connector can be used for charging the watch easily. Some people may like its design as it looks like a traditional watch.

Let’s have a quick look at some at some of the specifications of this watch

  • Dimension-45.5 x 44.5 x 13 mm
  • Weight- 79 gm
  • Display- 1.2 inches
  • Resolution- 360x 360 pixels

Final verdict

Overall buying the W7 is not a smart decision. It is an outdated watch which lacks many necessary features. There are some unique features in the watch for sure, but none of them is really useful. The price is also very high. So, in my opinion, you should look for something better.
