This loaf is such a nice twist on the more traditional orange cake. Blood oranges just make this a little more special and the syrupy glaze that gets drizzled over the top is (literally and figuratively) the icing on the cake!
1 ½ c flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp sea salt
1 c organic cane sugar 1 c sour cream ½ c butter
½ c orange juice 2 tbl orange zest 3 tbl applesauce
1 tsp cinnamon ¼ tsp ginger 1 pinch allspice
Preheat oven to 350, spray 9×5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray and line with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, allspice and sea salt, set aside.
In a large bowl, combine sugar, sour cream, orange juice, and applesauce, mix until combined.
Next, add flour mixture. Continue mixing until combined. Now, slowly add butter in a steady stream, while mixing until combined.
Pour batter into greased loaf pan, bake until golden brown and a wooden stick inserted comes out clean. Remove from pan, let cool.
