Learn to eat like a local anywhere you go in the world with these simple tips.
When most of us travel we like to immerse ourselves in the culture of our current home away from home, and what better way to do that than to eat like a local? Whether you’re relaxing in Spanish plazas or trekking through the Asian tropics are are a few simple tips so that you can get that real local dining experience no matter where you go.
Research the country and region before you go. I know it sounds simple, but it can make such a difference if you know what a region specializes in. Find out what’s in season so you can make sure you’re getting the freshest and tastiest produce you can.
Buy your snacks at the local grocery store. I know it can be a little intimidating to walk in there, but this is where mom’s are picking up ingredients for dinner while their kids harass them to get snacks. Look around and see what people are getting.
Be prepared to try shabby looking places. Some of the best food is found, not in five star restaurants, but in little mom and pop hole in the walls.
