LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is going to receive the best welcome greeting by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce by giving him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On December 13, a ceremony will be held to honor Dwayne Johnson’s status of being a global box office powerhouse in the motion pictures category.
According to Anna Martinez, the producer for the Walk of Fame ceremonies, Dwayne Johnson is more than a talent and has a great personality. She stated that he also possesses a great heart because of his tremendous amount of effort in philanthropic works. This is also one of the essential criteria for having an immortal spot or a star on the Walk of Fame. Martinez also stated that they envision having a lot of Dwayne’s fans taking pictures of his star.
On December 20, Johnson’s latest movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle from Sony, will hit the theaters. He plays alongside stars Jack Black and Kevin Hart. Next year, he will also be starring in Jingle Cruise by Disney. This movie is based on the park ride theme. Johnson’s career in the big screen is also quite busy with his upcoming films such as Skyscraper and Rampage.
Dwayne Johnson has also starred in numerous movies for this past year including The Fate of the Furious, the eighth installment of the famous Fast and the Furious franchise and Baywatch. In 2016, Johnson and Hart have also worked together in Central Intelligence; a live-action comedy, and he also also voiced for the character of Maui in the Disney animated hit Moana.
Among the recent films of Johnson includes Hercules, Fast 5, Fast and Furious 6, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Furious 7. Some of his earlier works include the likes of The Mummy Returns, Get Smart, The Game Plan, and Race to Witch Mountain.
Johnson fans also have something to look forward to in 2019 where he will be working with Jason Statham for a spinoff movie of Fast and the Furious that will be based on his character Hobbs.
In the height of his career, Dwayne Johnson has also co-founded a production company, the Seven Bucks Production, with his business partner Dany Garcia. The company has already produced several shows, being most notable for HBO’s “Ballers” which will enter its 8th season next year.
While Dwayne Johnson was born in San Francisco, he was raised in Hawaii where he later joined the University of Miami Hurricanes as their defensive lineman and led the team to the nationals. After his time in UM, he entered the competitive sports entertainment and the world of WWE. There, he got his name “The Rock.” He is also a third-generation WWE wrestler after his grandfather and father. He is also now considered as one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time.
In 2000, Johnson also penned “The Rock Says,” an autobiography and in 2006, he founded The Rock Foundation. It has a mission to help terminally ill children by giving awareness, motivation, and empowerment for children around the world about physical fitness and health.
The Walk of Fame ceremony for Dwayne Johnson on December 13 will be at 6801 Hollywood Blvd, in front of Highland and Hollywood which will start at 11:30 pm PT.
